David Truss and friends came up with a fun idea to try during the month of March:
“For the month of March, a group of educators and lifelong learners will be picking a “Tweet of the day” and Re-Tweeting it with the tag: #gr8t
Hopefully, you will join us in doing this too!
There are a number of reasons why you might want to participate:
• To share what you value about twitter.
• To see what others value about twitter.
• To celebrate the power and wisdom of your Personal Learning Network.
• To find interesting people to follow on Twitter.
• To commit to trying out twitter for a month.
You can check out all the info on the #gr8t wiki too!
Thanks for getting this post up. I hope everyone who Twitters participates, I know I learn so much each day from my Twitter Personal Learning Network. I am gaining such a wonderful group of links as well as having meaningful conversations all within 140 characters. Now those who know me personally really are shocked (my wife included).
If you don't have a Twitter account, set one up and join the conversation. We've started a list of our Twitter names here on Seedlings, check us out & look at who we are following and who is following us. You will find familiar names since many of us are following each other.
Mostly, get your feet wet and have fun with all your Tweeple (Twitter People).
This is indeed a great way to get started with Twitter and quickly see the value… and I also encourage your readers who tried Twitter out and gave up, to visit the wiki and see ‘how’ many educators are using Twitter to connect, learn and share. http://gr8tweets.wikispaces.com
It takes a while to build up a ‘followship’ where Twitter really starts to feel like a conversation, and so hopefully Gr8tweets will help newcomers and second-comers to find new connections and to view Twitter as a valuable part of their learning network.
Fresh from GTADC Richard Byrne will join us this week. Richard blogs at Free Technology for Teachers Please join us at 7:30 PM EST at http://edtechtalk.com/live
Hi, Alice. Like you, I find the gifts feature much too silly and Facebook-like. You can easily remove it by clicking the "remove the gifts feature" link from the Gifts icon on your Manage page. Cheers.
Would love to shed a little light on this, Bob, Alice, Sheri and Wes.
