Jeff Mummert has created this terrific list of TED TALKS videos broken down by discipline.

While I have hardly scratched the surface of this list, so far my favorite is Do Schools Kill Creativity by Sir Ken Robinson. I love how he speaks about how the creative process has been ruined in school, and what we might do to begin to think about change. I think I am going to use this as an opener for school next year as one of district goals is about school engagement.

Which one is your favorite?

I really like the one about the prize that Dave Eggers won. You should really listen to it if you are at all interested in the difficulties of teaching now, especially in the inner city.

Oh man! This is going to be a hard decision! I've got to think about this for a bit. Great discussion! Much thanks to Jeff Mummert for creating the list, and to Alice for asking the question.

I love Ken's talk also, Alice. A companion favorite of mine is Larry Lessig's On Laws that Choke Creativity.

Enjoy!

Hi, Alice,
What a wonderful resource TED is! Imagine, we can all view and engage in these presentations that prior to this were limited to the few elite who could afford to attend.
One of my favorites is Benjamin Zandar, the conductor, talking about his role as a conductor and shining eyes. It has great parallels for us in the field of teaching.
Here is link to the video that I linked to on my blog:

My favorite is Mike Rowe from "Dirty Jobs" talking about how his idea of work changed through his show. I showed it to my seniors and they really understood what he was saying. I teach Math Finance and many of the students are thinking about "what they want to be when they grow up". I thought this would give them a new perspective. I love TED. I really encourage my students to explore the website. I also like the new technology videos. The kids also got a kick out of "David Merrill demos Siftables". P.S. I caught up on all the Seedlings podcasts while I was driving from Oklahoma to Colorado and back. Thanks for the great program.

Hi, Alice. Like you, I find the gifts feature much too silly and Facebook-like. You can easily remove it by clicking the "remove the gifts feature" link from the Gifts icon on your Manage page. Cheers.
