This Wednesday I will be presenting some conferencing/distance-ed tools to a grad class at Southern NH University. If you have used a conferencing tool in the classroom, I would love to hear from you! If you will be available Wednesday evening (July…
Glad I found this thread. I also teach a pre and in-service course on media literacy and technology for grad students.
I also found the concept of "participatory culture" most useful in validation and providing some direction.
We discuss in my sem…
Dave, I'm on the same wavelength as Bob with Henry Jenkins' participatory culture:
**Participatory Culture is one:
1. With relatively low barriers to artistic expression and civic engagement
2. With strong support for creating and sharing one's cre…
Thanks everyone for the input. As I mentioned, this came about as a topic of conversation in a graduate class I am teaching on integrating technology into the classroom to both in-service and pre-service teachers. While I do know what it means to me…
Dave,
I think a lot about the new digital divide that exists, which is more than having the tools or not having the tools. It's also about those students who are getting the proper teacher support in navigating and understanding the digital world,…
Dave, What a great question! There are many ways I see this question.
I see this as a teacher having the knowledge to provide access to the content, ie. using text to spoken word so all students can 'access' the information.
I see this as the teache…
Hmm, it could mean that teachers engage their students in using both print and online resources when they are learning and researching. That they offer students choices. That they actively teach how to access and best use digital resources. I would…

A few years ago I made the move to teaching from a 20+ year career as a software engineer. Every day I work with my students and other teachers experimenting with incorporating new technologies into the classroom from digital story telling and podcasting to creating digital portfolios. I've been following a number of podcasts for the past few years and found Seedlings in April or May. Glad to be part of the community.
Fresh from GTADC Richard Byrne will join us this week. Richard blogs at Free Technology for Teachers Please join us at 7:30 PM EST at http://edtechtalk.com/live

Would love to shed a little light on this, Bob, Alice, Sheri and Wes.
Back at the beginning of November, these new ads began popping up on nings I had created for various committees where I work. A few people including me protested that the ads wer…

I haven't run in to the match ads, so maybe they were short lived. I do wish they would get rid of the gift thing, I looked through the management options, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Anyone else know how?
