Hi Jenifer....
Thanks for the CBAM link....very familiar with cbam from my days in graduate classes :-)
Good stuff. The laptops are actually the later part of this whole program. We're going to have our fifth day of full day training in a couple weeks here, and that's when we are introducing the student laptops. Up to this point it's been all pd for teachers on how to use their own new tools for improving instruction and developing PLNs....however many are already beginning to use the tools with their students in schools that have labs in anticipation of student laptops. I think we have built a pretty good foundation at this point with the teachers to begin the conversations on student laptops :-)
dear Everyone, The MacArthur Foundation decided not to fund our grant proposal. Darn yet oh well! We will keep looking for opportunities to cultivate great ideas!

Ch-ch-ch-changes...A few months ago I left K-12 after 33 years to become the educational specialist at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine residency in Augusta. Here I work with caring, highly skilled family doctors to train the next group of people committed to rural family medicine. FMI see "The Heirs of Family Practice, " by John McPhee. I came here from Kittery, where I enjoyed coordinating curriculum in a small district with committed, caring professionals. Before this I was the Head Gardener for SEED, Maine's statewide network of teachers teaching teachers -- the original ground from which this ning grew! Before that I was with the Maine Department of Education, and before that - a classroom teacher in Northern California. But that was then, and this is now. I haven't run in to the match ads, so maybe they were short lived. I do wish they would get rid of the gift thing, I looked through the management options, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Anyone else know how?

Kristin Tarnas I am looking for a way to get my class in a chat room during a lesson and wondering what would be a good and appropriate venue for this.
Clare,
Why on earth would the teachers be asked to stop blogging? Are they asked to stop having conversations? Are they asked to stop writing about things that matter to kids? How are teachers supposed to disregard one of the major communication f...
We had strong interest - and a great start - among our third grade teachers to have their students begin blogging (mainly around literacy) - blogging in the hands of these talented teachers couldn't be more valuable, in my opinion. Then our admini...
Wow... changes. Is this happening on other nings? Where we once had some relatively connected google ads on the side of our ning, we now have match[dot]com ads where Seedlings can explore online dating? I hope this is a short lived anomaly.

Thanks!
It's OK -- I knew folks might be busy.
Yes, my plan is to record and then post the conversation and see how it all transpires.
