I'm sheepish that I haven't checked back to see these comments until now. I'm new to SN and find that I have difficulty keeping up - I commented on Plurk that I binge and never purge: applies to reading my RSS feeder (which grows daily beyond my ability to keep up), and it applies to all the other social networks I've joined. Thanks for your comments and hope to have an actual discussion soon. Will visit your profiles.
Sharon: It's so great to have you be part of Seedlings! What a fun picture and I love how you used the sepia tones to pint out you and your family members! Great idea! Maybe there is a trend going here as I was never a girlie-girl either, being the oldest of five and the only girl.... I look forward to the continued conversation!
Welcome to Seedlings and the conversations. As a tech integrator take a look at the Maine Holocaust Education Network ning that I put up with my students this past spring. My students took charge of welcoming people (other teachers mostly) to the ning and had some great conversations. We will be keeping it going and I hope as the year goes on other teachers with their classes will join creating a place for students to share with each other, other Holocaust educators and survivors.
Sharon, pleased you have joined us, and don't ever feel like you are bragging, you are telling your story. You need to so we have something to identify you with. I identify to not being a girly-girl! I am amazed at how you are a tech integrator at such a big school system! This year I am 2 days a week at ONE middle school. We can share! Talk soon.
Cheryl
I'm the cute one in front. I hung out with my brother (on the right) and his friends a lot, which is why I'm not a girly-girl. My sister, in back, is the domesticated one. She cooks and I eat.

Professional stuff: I'm an instructional technology integrator for middle school language arts in public schools in Chesterfield County, Virginia (a large suburban area southwest of Richmond). I circulate among 14 middle schools that include a wide range of economic and cultural profiles, training teachers and modeling lessons that integrate the use of technology and best practices. There are 55 integrators like me in my county, each of us focusing specifically on one content area and a general grade level (either elementary, middle, or secondary). I'm proud to add -- and I'm probably bragging but it was hard work -- that I'm a National Board Certified teacher, as well.
Personal stuff: I'm old (53) but progressive & still radical. I'm a mother of a college sophomore at Va.Tech (i.e., I'm broke but proud), married to a retired firefighter/Navy man whom I adore, I'm addicted to films, especially classics, I love to read and write, and I'm an internet lurker. Find me at Plurk, Delicious, Diigo, and Facebook (username: sharon_elin).
Fresh from GTADC Richard Byrne will join us this week. Richard blogs at Free Technology for Teachers Please join us at 7:30 PM EST at http://edtechtalk.com/live
Hi, Alice. Like you, I find the gifts feature much too silly and Facebook-like. You can easily remove it by clicking the "remove the gifts feature" link from the Gifts icon on your Manage page. Cheers.
Would love to shed a little light on this, Bob, Alice, Sheri and Wes.

I haven't run in to the match ads, so maybe they were short lived. I do wish they would get rid of the gift thing, I looked through the management options, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Anyone else know how?
