Hi, Alice. Like you, I find the gifts feature much too silly and Facebook-like. You can easily remove it by clicking the "remove the gifts feature" link from the Gifts icon on your Manage page. Cheers.

Would love to shed a little light on this, Bob, Alice, Sheri and Wes. Back at the beginning of November, these new ads began popping up on nings I had created for various committees where I work. A few people including me protested that the ads wer…

Give option 3 a try, Bob. Not sure if that will work forever, but it may work for now.

I haven't run in to the match ads, so maybe they were short lived. I do wish they would get rid of the gift thing, I looked through the management options, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Anyone else know how? @Sheri: The problem with W…

And what do you think of the "gift" addition? Maybe we need to move to Moodle... or Weebly? or ????

Wow... changes. Is this happening on other nings? Where we once had some relatively connected google ads on the side of our ning, we now have match[dot]com ads where Seedlings can explore online dating? I hope this is a short lived anomaly. http://…

Thanks for the welcome. Please bear with me as I am new to all these web communities and figuring out how to best find the resources available on each.

I am almost finished watching the presentation that Nellie Deutsch moderated. I took six page of notes and found the presentations very thought provoking. It was very interesting hearing Deidre Bonnycastle talking about her use of Twitter. It actually validated the way I've been using Twitter. The intro to Moodle by Anne Thorpe answered a big issue of mine. I always struggled with the calendar and learned I can set up a Moodle using topics, instead. And Nina Liakos offered some concrete examples of how to use wikis. All in all, it took a big investment of time and attention to watch the full presentation, but it was very worthwhile, and I encourage others to watch as well. The nice thing about watching a recorded presentation is the ability to pause it and go back. The drawback was nothing could be read from the chat window - too small and pixelated.

I clicked on the link to Nellie Deutsch's presentation on Integrating Technology using Moodle, etc. and in lieu of signing up with Wizig - scrolled down through the comments and found many had trouble viewing the stream there - found an alternate address for viewing from Nellie herself:

I have it playing now, but the load is painfully slow. I think it's my computer. I tried watching several of Cheryl Oake's videos on her visit to the tech expo at Sebaticook Valley Middle School, and they loaded painfully slowly, as well. I guess I'll have to restart my computer. I have AT&T UVerse, so it should not be so slow.
I'm going to go bake muffins while the current stream loads.
Happy summer. Carolyn

Thanks for the invitation. As a former teacher, I tend to be open to lots of ideas and dialogue. Your discussion of "The Pace of change" etc .. is very interesting.
I am currently engaged in further developing my web site ( PicLits.com) but will try to keep abreast of the happenings at Seedlings.

Bob, really enjoy your show. You're mentioned several times (for which you gave permission) in the digital writing book Give me your address so that I can send you a copy; I sent Alice a copy.

Hi, Bob,
Happy belated 4th of July. I hope it will warm up in Maine, soon. We are planning a visit in a week or so. How much of NECC did you follow virtually? I'll bet you missed Cheryl and Alice. Are you going to update the Seedlings shows on the front page of the NING? Happy Summer Vacation.
